How to Legally Buy Nicotine for Vaping in Australia
To buy e-juice or liquid for vaping in Australia, currently you need to purchase it from a company that can ship it to you from overseas. We ship to Australia from Liberty Flights' manufacturing facility in the United Kingdom. Please refer to the Personal Importation Scheme of the Australian Government Department of Health Therapeutic Goods Administration. Please also note you may only import liquid for your own personal use, you may not sell or give it to others and you require a prescription from an Australian registered doctor.
In January 2020 there was a major shift in policy from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) with the release of a guide for health professionals for reducing smoking rates which includes the use of e-cigarettes as a second-line aid for smokers wanting to quit smoking -- this is something you can share with your doctor when discussing vaping. More recently, 19 June 2020, the Australian Department of Health announced a prohibition on the personal importation of nicotine for use in e-cigarette vapourisers effective 1 July 2020, however after much opposition from backbench ministers and the public, Greg Hunt, Minister for Health delayed the implementation date to 1 January 2021.
Under this impending prohibition, Australians will no longer be able to import nicotine for their own personal use from 1 January 2021, only doctors via approved medical suppliers and pharmacists will be able to import nicotine with licenses granted by the Department of Health and provide nicotine to Australians that hold a prescription for nicotine.

How Much Nicotine Vape Liquid Does the Law Allow Me to Buy?
According to the Personal Importation Scheme, there are order quantity limits that you must obey when buying nicotine e-liquid in Australia:
- You can buy no more than a three-month supply at a time.
- You can buy no more than a 15-month supply per year.
We provide some advice below which can help you determine how much e-liquid you'll use over three months.
As a rough guide, though, one bottle of Liberty Flights nicotine vape juice contains about as much nicotine as 70-100 traditional cigarettes. If you use the DOT PRO pod vape device, the average regular smoker would consume one pre-filled liquid pod per day.

How Much Liquid Nicotine Should I Buy?
Australian law allows you to buy a maximum of three months worth of e-liquid at a time. If you already vape, determining how much nicotine e-liquid you use in three months isn't hard -- just multiply your daily consumption by 90.
If you smoke, you can guess how much e-liquid you'll need by looking up how much nicotine your preferred cigarette brand contains. Multiply that amount by the number of cigarettes you smoke per day to determine your daily nicotine consumption. To find out how much nicotine is in one bottle of e-liquid, multiply the strength of the e-liquid by 10. Remember that shipping nicotine e-liquid to Australia takes time; order with this in mind to ensure that you won't run out.

What Is the Right Nicotine Strength for Me?
We recommend the 1.8% or 20mg nicotine strength for those who smoke up to one packet of cigarettes per day. If you only smoke socially -- or your nicotine consumption is much higher than average -- you may need to choose a different nicotine strength for the best possible vaping experience.
