The Brisbane Times reports that Health Minister Lawrence Springborg has introduced legislation in the Queensland Parliament which will make "vaping" as socially taboo as smoking. 'Federal Senator David Leyonhjelm has lashed out at the Queensland government – labelling Premier Campbell Newman a "control freak" – after the government moved to make e-cigarettes privy to the same regulations as their tobacco counterparts."

Stray cigarette butt may have caused Sydney fire: as bushfire threat eases around state

Sundays fire at Sydney Olympic Park is believed to have started from a discarded cigarette butt. The fire destroyed 47 cars, damaged 33 and forced 500 people to evacuate the area with firefighters stating they had never seen anything like it.
